...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 615 AM MDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Sheridan County. * WHEN...Until 615 AM MDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...River or stream flows are elevated and near bankfull in many areas. Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected to occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 854 PM MDT, Emergency Management and Public Reports indicate the Smith Creek near Dayton, Little Goose Creek near Sheridan, and Piney Creek near Story are bankfull. The Tongue River near Dayton is also near Bankfull. - Connor State Park in Ranchester has been closed due to rising waters on the Tongue River. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Sheridan, Ranchester, Dayton, Big Horn, Parkman and Banner. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Do not drive on or attempt to cross flooded roads, find an alternate route. Roads and driveways may be damaged or washed out in places. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas. Please report observed flooding to local emergency officials and request they pass the information to the National Weather Service in Billings. &&
