...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN GALLIA...WESTERN MASON AND NORTH CENTRAL CABELL COUNTIES THROUGH 300 PM EDT... At 232 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southwest of Gallipolis to 10 miles north of Ona. Movement was northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Point Pleasant, Gallipolis, Crown City, Henderson, Gallopolis Ferry, Green Bottom, Southside, and Ashton. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Kentucky, including the following counties, Boyd, Carter, Greenup and Lawrence, southeast Ohio, including the following counties, Athens, Gallia, Jackson OH, Lawrence OH, Meigs, Morgan, Perry, Vinton and Washington, and West Virginia, including the following counties, Cabell, Jackson WV, Mason, Pleasants, Ritchie, Tyler, Wayne, Wirt and Wood. * WHEN...Until 11 PM EDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may also occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered showers and thunderstorms increase in activity this afternoon and evening. Heavy rain is expected within heavier showers and thunderstorms, with additional rainfall totals of 1-2" possible today in some areas.
