...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EST MONDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional sleet accumulations
up to two inches and ice accumulations up to one tenth of an inch.

* WHERE...Portions of central, northwest, and western Virginia and
eastern West Virginia.

* WHEN...Until 1 AM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice.
Travel could be nearly impossible.


* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Sleet will continue today, possibly becoming
moderate to heavy in intensity at times. Some freezing rain may
begin to mix in with the sleet later this afternoon into the early
evening, especially south of U.S. 50. Significant icing is
possible especially across central Virginia. A prolonged period of
wind chills in the teens and single digits continues this evening
and lasting through much of week, with sub-zero wind chills
possible at times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use
extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

...EXTREME COLD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY EVENING THROUGH TUESDAY
MORNING...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero
possible, locally nearing 35 below zero in western Pendleton
County.

* WHERE...In Maryland, Eastern Garrett and Western Garrett Counties.
In Virginia, Eastern Highland and Western Highland Counties. In
West Virginia, Eastern Pendleton, Western Grant, Western Mineral,
and Western Pendleton Counties.

* WHEN...From Monday evening through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 25 below zero
could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to
drip slowly.
