...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN BOYD...SOUTH CENTRAL LAWRENCE...SOUTHERN CABELL...SOUTHWESTERN PUTNAM...NORTHERN LINCOLN...NORTHERN WAYNE AND NORTH CENTRAL BOONE COUNTIES THROUGH 300 PM EDT... At 217 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Catlettsburg to Alum Creek. Movement was southeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Huntington, Ashland, Wayne, Hamlin, Beech Fork State Park, Barboursville, Kenova, Catlettsburg, Ceredo, Alum Creek, South Point, Burlington, West Hamlin, Lockwood, Ashford, Summit, Salt Rock, Yawkey, Myra, and Sweetland. This includes the following highways... Interstate 64 in Kentucky between mile markers 188 and 191. Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 1 and 14. Route 119 between mile markers 61 and 68. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
