At 638 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 11 miles northeast of Amherst, or 16 miles north of Waupaca, moving northeast at 35 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Other locations impacted by the severe thunderstorm include Northland, Peru, Iola, Norske, Schmidt Corner and Big Falls. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds and large hail. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 555 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Overflowing poor drainage areas will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected over the area.
