...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 93 degrees expected. * WHERE...In Minnesota, Carlton, St. Louis, and Northern Cook and Lake Counties. In Wisconsin, Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas, Sawyer, and Washburn Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Bad River Reservation, the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, the Red Cliff Band, the Fond du Lac Band and the Bois Forte Band, Nett Lake and, Lake Vermilion areas. Other locations including Madeline Island, the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore and Voyageurs National Park. The entire Boundary Waters is also included. * WHEN...From noon to 8 PM CDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the following counties: Ashland, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Iron, Price, Sawyer, Washburn. WHAT...The PM2.5 AQI is expected to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (USG) to Unhealthy level. WHERE...Northwestern Wisconsin. WHEN...From 3 PM Thursday until 11 PM Friday. Precautionary/Preparedness Actions: Sensitive groups: Consider rescheduling or moving all activities inside. Go inside if you have symptoms. People with asthma: Follow your asthma action plan and keep quick-relief medicine handy. People with heart disease: Symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue may indicate a serious problem. If you have any of these, contact your health care provider. Everyone else: Keep outdoor activities shorter and less intense. Go inside if you have symptoms. Additional Details: Canadian wildfire smoke has entered northwest Wisconsin Thursday and will continue to move to the southeast through the remainder of the day. On Friday, smoke will begin moving south. Winds will begin turning southerly Friday night into Saturday, at which point the smoke will begin moving back north.
