The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has issued an Air Quality Advisory for the following counties: Brown, Calumet, Door, Florence, Forest, Kewaunee, Langlade, Lincoln, Manitowoc, Marathon, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto, Oneida, Outagamie, Portage, Shawano, Vilas, Waupaca, Waushara, and Winnebago. * WHAT...The PM2.5 AQI is expected to reach the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups level. * WHERE...Lake Superior shoreline. Northeast Wisconsin. East-central Wisconsin. Far southeast Wisconsin. * WHEN...Until noon Wednesday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... Canadian wildfire smoke will continue to impact surface air quality over parts of the state on Tuesday and into Wednesday morning. Moderate (Yellow) AQI is most likely across more southern and western areas, while Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (Orange) AQI is more likely to the far north along Lake Superior and eastern areas. A gradual decrease in PM2.5 concentrations is anticipated to continue Wednesday, and further extensions of the advisory are not expected at this time. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Sensitive groups: Make outdoor activities shorter and less intense. It is OK to be active outdoors but take more breaks. Watch for symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath. People with asthma: Follow your asthma action plan and keep quick relief medicine handy. People with heart disease: Symptoms such as palpitations, shortness of breath, or unusual fatigue may indicate a serious problem. If you have any of these, contact your health care provider.
