...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM PDT THIS EVENING FOR WIND AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 699, 700, AND 704... * Affected Area: Okanogan Highlands and Kettle Mountains (Zone 699), Selkirk Mountains of Northeast Washington (Zone 700) and Methow Valley (Zone 704). * Winds: Southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts around 20 to 30 mph. Winds shifting northwesterly Saturday evening for the Methow Valley. * Relative Humidities: 15 to 24 percent. * Impacts: Gusty winds and low humidity Saturday may lead to rapid fire spread with any new or ongoing fires. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. &&
Air Quality Alert

An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies: Washington Department of Ecology Colville Confederated Tribes Environmental Protection Agency An Air Quality Alert has been issued for all of Asotin, Chelan, Douglas, Ferry, Garfield, Grant, Lincoln, Okanogan, Pend Oreille, and Stevens Counties through Monday at 11 am, due to current and expected wildfire smoke from regional fires. Areas to the north and northeast of active and emerging fires in Washington and Oregon could reach Unhealthy levels of particulate matter (PM2.5). When air quality is unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.
