For the Gale Watch, southwest winds 20 to 30 kt possible. * WHERE...Puget Sound and Hood Canal. * WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, until 1 AM PST Tuesday. For the Gale Watch, from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Gale Watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to 47 knots has significantly increased, but the specific timing and/or location is still uncertain. It is intended to provide additional lead time for mariners who may wish to consider altering their plans. &&

...HEAVY RAINFALL THIS WEEK WILL LEAD TO AN INCREASED THREAT OF LANDSLIDES IN WESTERN WASHINGTON... Rainfall from the past week has increased soil moisture to high levels across western Washington. Additional rainfall of around 2-6 inches is expected early this week. This amount of rain will put extra pressure on soil instability, leading to an increased threat of landslides and debris flows, especially from recent burned areas. This rain event could act as a trigger for new landslides. Areas most susceptible to landslides debris flows under these conditions are steep coastal bluffs, other steep hillsides or road cuts, and recent burned areas. A diminishing threat of landslides and debris flows will continue for several days after the rain ends.
