For the second Small Craft Advisory, from 4 AM Monday to 4 AM PST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Small Craft Advisory means that wind speeds of 21 to 33 knots and/or seas 10 feet or higher are expected to produce hazardous wave conditions to small craft. ...HEAVY RAINFALL OVER THE PAST WEEK HAS LED TO AN INCREASED THREAT OF LANDSLIDES IN WESTERN WASHINGTON... Significant rainfall over the past week has increased soil moisture to high levels across western Washington. This significant rain has put extra pressure on soil instability, leading to an increased threat of landslides and debris flows, especially from recent burned areas. Precipitation will remain fairly light through most of the weekend but a frontal system will move through Sunday night into Monday, bringing a quick hit of heavier rainfall which could act as a trigger. Numerous landslides have already occurred across the area. More landslides continue to be possible. Areas most susceptible to landslides debris flows under these conditions are steep coastal bluffs, other steep hillsides or road cuts, and recent burned areas. A diminishing threat of landslides and debris flows will continue for several days after the rain ends.
