...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN SALT LAKE...WEST CENTRAL SUMMIT...SOUTHWESTERN MORGAN AND SOUTHEASTERN DAVIS COUNTIES UNTIL 4 PM MDT... At 325 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Salt Lake City, moving northeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Salt Lake City, West Valley City, Bountiful, Morgan, South Salt Lake, North Salt Lake, Centerville, Woods Cross, West Bountiful, Emigration Canyon, East Canyon State Park, Canyon Rim, Millcreek, Salt Lake City International Airport, Henefer and Portersville. This includes the following highways... Interstate 84 between mile markers 104 and 113. Interstate 80 in Utah between mile markers 114 and 119...and between mile markers 123 and 126. Interstate 15 between mile markers 303 and 319. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Monitor the weather situation closely and be alert for threatening weather conditions. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of Utah, including the following areas, Western Millard and Juab Counties, Bear Lake and Bear River Valley, Cache Valley/Utah Portion, Eastern Box Elder County, Great Salt Lake Desert and Mountains, Northern Wasatch Front, Salt Lake Valley, Tooele and Rush Valleys, Utah Valley, Wasatch Back, Wasatch Mountains I-80 North, Wasatch Mountains South of I-80, Western Uinta Basin and Western Uinta Mountains. This includes recent burn scars such as Rocky Canyon. * WHEN...From late tonight through Monday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and recent burn scars. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Moisture associated with the remnants of Tropical Storm Rachel will move into northern Utah this weekend producing a prolonged rainfall event. In particular, moisture interacting with a frontal boundary across far northern Utah may yield locally heavier rainfall totals compared to other locations.
