Extreme Heat Warning
Issued: 4:06 PM Jul. 10, 2026 – National Weather Service
...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY TO 6 AM
MDT MONDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions expected, with highs around 100
possible for most central and southern Utah valleys and up to 110
for Lower Washington County, Zion Canyon, and the Glen Canyon
Recreation Area.

* WHERE...Western Millard and Juab Counties, Capitol Reef National
Park and Vicinity, Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell, South
Central Utah, Western Canyonlands, and Southwest Utah.

* WHEN...From noon Saturday to 6 AM MDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
extreme heat events.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is high confidence that temperatures
will warm to values challenging daily and monthly high temperature
records Saturday and Sunday. Overnight lows in the lower to mid
70s for many valley locations, except low 80s for lower Washington
County, will provide little in the way of overnight relief.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
