The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Fire Weather Watch for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Friday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 492 Central Utah West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 495 Color Country West Desert, Fire Weather Zone 497 Mojave Desert and Fire Weather Zone 498 Grand Staircase. * WINDS...Southwest winds around 15-25 mph with gusts to 30-35 mph are likely to develop Friday afternoon across much of southwestern and south-central Utah. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...A drier air mass moving into southern Utah will result in relative humidity falling to the 10 to 15 percent range across a wide swath of southwestern and south-central Utah. * IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Fire Weather Watch means that there is a potential for critical fire weather conditions.
