...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...Dangerous rip currents. * WHERE...Gulf-facing beaches, including the Matagorda Peninsula, Brazoria County beaches, Galveston Island and the Bolivar Peninsula. * WHEN...Through late Friday night. * IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The risk of strong rip currents may linger through Saturday afternoon. Hazard statement may be extended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Swim near a lifeguard and away from rocks, jetties, and piers. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help. &&

However, fringe effects in the form of hazardous seas, gusty Gulf winds, rip currents, and above normal coastal water levels are likely along the Upper Texas Coast. Conditions are expected to worsen tonight into Friday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
