...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM CDT THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 112 expected. * WHERE...Inland Cameron, Inland Kenedy, and Inland Willacy Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments. The combination of hot temperatures and humidity will produce heat index values between 108 and 111 degrees for several hours Tuesday afternoon and early evening. A few locations may briefly experience heat index values above 111 degrees. If spending time outside on Tuesday, drink plenty of water, wear light weight and light colored clothing, and take frequent breaks from the heat. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles.
