...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Coke, Runnels, Schleicher and Tom Green. * WHEN...Until 430 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 132 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms from Robert Lee to San Angelo To Ozona and westward. Movement was northeast at 30 mph. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... San Angelo, Ballinger, Winters, Eldorado, Robert Lee, Blackwell, Christoval, Maverick, Bronte, Miles, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Wall, Veribest, Lake Nasworthy, O.C. Fisher Reservoir, San Angelo State Park, Twin Buttes Reservoir, Orient, Grape Creek and Vancourt. - This includes the following Low Water Crossings... At 119 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles northwest of The Intersection Of Highway 158 And Ranch Road 2059 to near Grape Creek to Tankersley to 9 miles south of The Intersection Of Ranch Road 2083 And Highway 405. Movement was northeast at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... San Angelo, Ballinger, Winters, Eldorado, Robert Lee, Sterling City, Mertzon, Blackwell, Christoval, Ozona, Maverick, Nolan, Bronte, Miles, E.V. Spence Reservoir Near Paint Creek Recreation Area, Hatchel, Sanco, Knickerbocker, O.C. Fisher Reservoir, and Rowena. This includes Interstate 10 between Mile Markers 341 and 394. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Movement was northeast at 30 mph. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.25 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following counties, Brown, Callahan, Coke, Coleman, Concho, Crockett, Irion, Kimble, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Nolan, Runnels, San Saba, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, Taylor and Tom Green. * WHEN...Through this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A line of showers and thunderstorms will move through West Central Texas late morning through this evening. Heavy rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible as the storms move through, A few areas may see up to 5 inches. With soils already saturated, rainfall will quickly run off and produce flash flooding.
