...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN GALVESTON AND EAST
CENTRAL BRAZORIA COUNTIES THROUGH 715 AM CDT...

At 652 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Hitchcock, moving northeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Galveston Island West End, Galveston Causeway, Texas City, Dickinson,
La Marque, Santa Fe, Hitchcock, Bayou Vista, Jamaica Beach, Tiki
Island, Galveston State Park, Scholes Field, Schlitterbahn, Offatts
Bayou, Moody Gardens, and Galveston Island East End.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Texas, including
the following areas, in south central Texas, Coastal Jackson and
Inland Jackson. In southeast Texas, Austin, Bolivar Peninsula,
Brazoria Islands, Chambers, Coastal Brazoria, Coastal Galveston,
Coastal Harris, Coastal Matagorda, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston
Island, Grimes, Inland Brazoria, Inland Galveston, Inland Harris,
Inland Matagorda, Matagorda Islands, Montgomery, Northern Liberty,
Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller,
Washington and Wharton.

* WHEN...Through Monday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Additional rainfall totals through late Monday are
anticipated to be between 1 to 3 inches. Isolated higher
totals of 4-6 inches are possible, with the more favorable
locations of that occurring across the southern 1/3 of
southeast Texas. Rainfall rates are expected to peak in the
3-4" per hour range in the heaviest downpours.
