...RED FLAG WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 9 PM MDT THIS EVENING FOR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR ALL OF SOUTHWEST AND SOUTH-CENTRAL NEW MEXICO AND FAR WEST TEXAS... * AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zone 055 Texas Fire Weather Zone 055 El Paso County, Fire Weather Zone 056 Texas Fire Weather Zone 056 Hudspeth County, Fire Weather Zone 110 Southwest Mountains/Gila NF/Apache NF/GLZ, Fire Weather Zone 111 Southwest Deserts and Lowlands/Las Cruces BLM/GLZ, Fire Weather Zone 112 South Central Lowlands and Southern Rio Grande Valley/BLM/GLZ and Fire Weather Zone 113 Capitan and Sacramento Mountains/Lincoln NF/LNZ. * AFFECTED AREA...Southwest and South-Central New Mexico including Fire Weather Zones NMZ110, NMZ111, NMZ112, and NMZ113. This includes the Lincoln and Gila National Forests. Also, Far West Texas, including Fire Weather Zones TXZ055 and TXZ056 covering El Paso and Hudspeth Counties. * TIMING...Today from Noon to 9 PM MDT. * WINDS...West 25 to 35 mph with gusts 40 to 50 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Dropping to 7 to 10 percent across the lowlands, and 13 to 17 percent across area mountains. * EXPERIMENTAL RFTI...5 to 7 or Critical to Extreme. * IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. ...AIRPORT WEATHER WARNING FOR EL PASO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT... VALID 05/19/1700Z - 05/20/0400Z Valid today from 11 AM MDT through 10 PM MDT. West-WNW winds 20 to 25 knots with gusts to 30 knots beginning before noon. Winds will increase to 25 to 28 knots with gusts 35 to 40 knots by 19Z (1 PM MDT). Visibility in blowing dust will begin to diminish to 3 to 5 miles by 20Z (2 PM). Visibility down to 1 SM is possible after 21Z (3 PM). Visibility will improve rapidly after 02Z (8 PM), as winds and mixing begin to diminish with sunset.
