...WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 7 PM CDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Northwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts 35 to 45 mph expected. * WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast Texas. * WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CDT Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Winds will increase from the northwest later today into this evening behind a cold front. Winds will remain elevated through Wednesday. Lulls in the wind are expected and not everyone will experience advisory level winds during the entire duration of the event. ...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM TO 7 PM CDT WEDNESDAY DUE TO STRONG WINDS AND DRY CONDITIONS FOR PORTIONS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS... The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has upgraded the Fire Weather Watch to a Red Flag Warning. The warning is in effect from 10 AM to 7 PM CDT Wednesday. * AFFECTED AREA...Colorado, Wharton, Inland Jackson, Inland Matagorda, Coastal Jackson, Coastal Matagorda and Matagorda Islands. * WINDS...Northwest 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 18 percent. * TEMPERATURES...Up to 69. * IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now...or will shortly.
