...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN TIPTON...WESTERN FAYETTE...SOUTHWESTERN HAYWOOD AND EASTERN SHELBY COUNTIES THROUGH 545 PM CDT... At 513 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 7 miles southeast of Brighton to Eads to near Collierville. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Bartlett, Collierville, Germantown, Olive Branch, Cordova, Memphis, Lakeland, Arlington, Eads, Warren, Macon, Atoka, Oakland, Mason, Piperton, Gallaway, Rossville, Stanton, Braden, and Lenow. This includes Interstate 40 in Tennessee between mile markers 15 and 42. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
