For the Extreme Heat Watch, dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 115 possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast Georgia and southeast South Carolina. * WHEN...For the Heat Advisory, from 11 AM this morning to 8 PM EDT this evening. For the Extreme Heat Watch, from Thursday morning through Thursday evening. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
