The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a * Flash Flood Warning for... West Central Columbus County in southeastern North Carolina... Southeastern Dillon County in northeastern South Carolina... North Central Horry County in northeastern South Carolina... * Until 600 PM EDT. * At 256 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers and isolated thunderstorms are producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen during the past 3 hours. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is either ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Chadbourn, Fair Bluff, Cherry Grove, Clarendon, Southeastern Community College, Nichols and Cerro Gordo. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause dangerous flooding, especially near creeks and streams, drainage ditches, and low-lying flood prone areas. Turn around, don't drown if you encounter a flooded road. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Stay away from storm drains, culverts, creeks, and streams. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 216 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen during the past 3 hours. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area.
