...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Northwestern Chesterfield County in central South Carolina... Southeastern Lancaster County in central South Carolina... * WHEN...Until 200 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1207 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 5.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1.5 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Jefferson, Forty Acre Rock Preserve and Kershaw Correctional Institution. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Most flooding deaths occur in vehicles. ...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 130 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING FOR SOUTHWESTERN LANCASTER COUNTY... At 1203 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Elgin, Heath Springs, McDonald Green Elementary School, Faith Christian School, Pleasant Hill and Bell Town Fire Station.
