At 847 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over Tega Cay, or 7 miles north of Rock Hill, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Indian Land, Waxhaw, Andrew Jackson State Park, Van Wyck, Carolina Commons Shopping Center, and Community of Almond Glen. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 242 IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN SOUTH CAROLINA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 5 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL SOUTH CAROLINA CHESTERFIELD FAIRFIELD KERSHAW LANCASTER NEWBERRY THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF CAMDEN, CHERAW, ELGIN, ELGIN, LANCASTER, LANCASTER MILL, LUGOFF, NEWBERRY, PAGELAND, SPRINGDALE, WINNSBORO, AND WINNSBORO MILLS.
