...EXTREME COLD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chill temperatures as low as 5 degrees above zero possible. * WHERE...Portions of southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina. * WHEN...From Sunday evening through Monday morning. * IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 5 degrees above zero could result in hypothermia or frostbite if precautions are not taken. Well below freezing temperatures in the teens for most areas will also harm sensitive plants and could even damage exposed pipes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside. To prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain or allow them to drip slowly. Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water. Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure portable heaters are used correctly.
