...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of Puerto Rico, including the following areas, Central Interior, Culebra, Eastern Interior, Mayaguez and Vicinity, North Central, Northeast, Northwest, Ponce and Vicinity, San Juan and Vicinity, Southeast, Southwest, Vieques and Western Interior. * WHEN...Through Sunday evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. Storm drains and ditches may become clogged with debris. Extensive street flooding and flooding of creeks and rivers are possible. Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Shower and thunderstorm activity is forecast to continue developing tonight and tomorrow afternoon affecting affected areas. Most of the river and stream continues running with high values. ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS OVER THE CARIBBEAN WATERS... At 542 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated a cluster of strong thunderstorms, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots, frequent lightning, and isolated waterspouts. These thunderstorms were located over the Caribbean coastal and offshore waters. Thunderstorms near land areas are nearly stationary, while thunderstorms over the open Caribbean waters are moving west southwest around 10 knots. These thunderstorms could redevelop through late tonight.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM AST THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...Salinas and Santa Isabel. * WHEN...Until 800 PM AST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 446 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
