...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 430 PM EDT FOR EASTERN ALLEGHENY, NORTHWESTERN WESTMORELAND, SOUTHWESTERN ARMSTRONG AND SOUTHEASTERN BUTLER COUNTIES... At 407 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from 8 miles north of Sarver to over Irwin, or along a line from 9 miles west of Kittanning to 5 miles southwest of Jeannette, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. At 348 PM law enforcement reported trees and powerlines down near Butler. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Penn Hills, Monroeville, Greensburg, McKeesport, Butler, Jeannette, Vandergrift, Kittanning, Apollo, Plum, Murrysville, New Kensington, Lower Burrell, Harrison Township, North Versailles, White Oak, Homeacre-Lyndora, Wilkins Township, Turtle Creek and Arnold. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. These storms have produced damaging winds. Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.
