...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1045 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR NORTHEASTERN COLUMBIANA, SOUTHEASTERN MERCER, SOUTHERN VENANGO, NORTHWESTERN ARMSTRONG, BUTLER, WESTERN CLARION, NORTHERN BEAVER AND LAWRENCE COUNTIES... At 842 PM EDT, the public reported heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Flash flooding is ongoing. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cranberry, New Castle, Butler, Beaver Falls, Grove City, East Palestine, Knox, Ellwood City, Homeacre-Lyndora, New Brighton, Shanor-Northvue, Beaver, Calcutta, Meridian, Zelienople, Rochester, Slippery Rock, Ohioville, Meadowood and Oak Hills. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
