A code orange air quality alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children...people suffering from asthma... heart disease or other lung diseases...and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors. ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT TUESDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 97 expected. * WHERE...In New Jersey, Morris, Somerset, Warren, and Hunterdon Counties. In Pennsylvania, Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Upper Bucks, Western Chester, and Western Montgomery Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Record setting high temperatures are quite possible through Tuesday, with maximum heat indices of 95 to near 100 degrees during peak heating through Tuesday afternoon. Given the intensity of this early season stretch of heat and humidity, we are not acclimated to it yet and therefore impacts could be greater if precautions are not taken. Showers and some thunderstorms arrive Wednesday afternoon and evening which will break this early season heat. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
