...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 545 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Pennsylvania, including the following county, Delaware. * WHEN...Until 545 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 137 AM EDT, emergency management reported flooding in the warned area due to thunderstorms. Spring Run has flooded with Ridley Creek, Chester Creek, and Darby Creek all rising or in flood. Flooding is already occurring. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that may experience flooding include... Chester, Yeadon, Folcroft, Swarthmore, Nether Providence Township, Lima, Broomall, Chester Township, Newtown Square, Gradyville, Drexel Hill and Chelsea. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 230 AM EDT MONDAY FOR NORTHWESTERN CAMDEN, NORTHEASTERN CHESTER, NORTHEASTERN DELAWARE, MONTGOMERY AND PHILADELPHIA COUNTIES... At 1054 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. The expected rainfall rate is 1 to 2 inches in 1 hour. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets, and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas. Some locations that may experience flash flooding include... Philadelphia, Camden, Gloucester City, Cherry Hill, Norristown, Phoenixville, Lansdale, West Norriton, East Norriton, Bellmawr, Yeadon and Conshohocken.
