...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR SOUTH CENTRAL CLEARFIELD COUNTY... At 833 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 4 inches of rain have fallen, particularly the area north of Glen Hope and south of Curwensville. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Jeffries, Irvona, and Glen Hope. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. East central Clearfield County in central Pennsylvania... * Until 900 PM EDT. * At 828 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from Pine Glen to Port Matilda, moving east at 30 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees. * Locations impacted include... Bellefonte, Park Forest Village, Pleasant Gap, Stormstown, Lemont, Houserville, Milesburg, Snow Shoe, Clarence, Port Matilda, Moshannon, and Julian. Radar has indicated rotation within these severe thunderstorms. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, tornadoes can develop quickly during severe thunderstorms. For those driving on Interstate 80, this includes areas between the Kylertown and Bellefonte exits, specifically from mile markers 133 to 158. This includes Interstate 99 from mile markers 60 to 81. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... Philipsburg, Woodland, Stormstown, Osceola Mills, Chester Hill, Houtzdale, North Philipsburg, Port Matilda, South Philipsburg, Sandy Ridge, Black Moshannon State Park, and Jeffries. For those driving on Interstate 80, this includes areas between the Woodland and Snow Shoe exits, specifically from mile markers 124 to 139. This includes Interstate 99 from mile markers 60 to 64.
