...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING... ...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following counties, Lancaster and Lebanon. * WHEN...Until 530 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. It will take several hours for all the water from these storms to work through local drainage systems in urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 231 AM EDT, Local law enforcement continue to report water rescues in the warned area. Flooding is ongoing. Between 4 and 6 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional light rainfall is possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Lancaster, Ephrata, Elizabethtown, Columbia, Lititz, Millersville, Willow Street, Mount Joy, Manheim, East Petersburg, Cornwall, Akron, Leola, Salunga-Landisville, Denver, Maytown, Reamstown, Rothsville, Mountville and Marietta. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH THIS EVENING... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. * WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following counties, Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Lancaster, Lebanon and York. * WHEN...From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening. * IMPACTS...Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood with more heavy rain. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Heavy rain fell over most of the watch area on Monday and Monday night. More thunderstorms are expected later today and early tonight. The wet soils will cause the rain to run off into the already-high streams and creeks. Less than one inch of additional rainfall later today may be enough to cause flash flooding.
