...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EDT WEDNESDAY... * WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following counties, Bedford and Somerset. * WHEN...Until 100 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 857 PM EDT, Emergency management reported that flooding continues near Meyersdale, Bonton, and Salisbury. Several feet of water are reported to be on some roadways, especially along streams and creeks. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Somerset, Meyersdale, Berlin, Friedens, New Centerville, Mount Davis, Lake Gordon, Hyndman, Rockwood, Salisbury, Garrett, Indian Lake, Shanksville, Wellersburg, New Baltimore, Casselman, Callimont and Flight 93 National Memorial. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. The highest rainfall totals are expected near higher terrain and south of I-76. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING... * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following counties, Adams, Bedford, Blair, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon and Somerset. * WHEN...Through Wednesday morning. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Flash flooding has already been observed in Somerset County. Moderate to heavy rain will continue tonight in the Watch area. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are likely, with locally higher amounts possible along the eastern slopes of the Alleghenies.
