...SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 345 PM EDT FOR ALLEGHENY, NORTHWESTERN WASHINGTON, SOUTHERN BUTLER, BEAVER AND SOUTHERN LAWRENCE COUNTIES... At 321 PM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line from near Ellwood City to near McDonald, or along a line from 10 miles southeast of New Castle to 9 miles northwest of Canonsburg, moving east at 45 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees. Locations impacted include... Pittsburgh, Penn Hills, Mount Lebanon, Bethel Park, Ross Township, McCandless Township, Monroeville, Cranberry, Moon Township, McKeesport, Butler, Franklin Park, Aliquippa, Beaver Falls, Monaca, Shaler Township, Plum, West Mifflin, North Side Pittsburgh and Baldwin. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. These storms are capable of producing damaging winds. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms. Seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. Intense thunderstorm lines can produce brief tornadoes and widespread significant wind damage. Although a tornado is not immediately likely, it is best to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. ...STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS THIS AFTERNOON... A line of thunderstorms will continue to move east across the region this afternoon. Some of these storms could contain wind gusts up to 50 mph. There is also a potential for severe storms with damaging wind gusts of 60 mph. The storms should approach the Pittsburgh area between 3:30 and 4 pm. Severe thunderstorm warnings may be needed. In addition, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 PM.
