...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM FRIDAY TO 1 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...Northern Erie and Southern Erie Counties. * WHEN...From 10 AM Friday to 1 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A lake effect band will develop along the lakeshore and gradually push inland through the day Friday. Snowfall rates of up to one inch per hour will accompany the strongest portion of the band Friday afternoon and early evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions. &&
