...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR NORTHERN NEW CASTLE, NORTHWESTERN CAMDEN, NORTHWESTERN GLOUCESTER, NORTHWESTERN SALEM, SOUTHEASTERN CHESTER, DELAWARE, SOUTHEASTERN MONTGOMERY AND PHILADELPHIA COUNTIES... At 839 PM EDT, trained weather spotters reported flash flooding with water rescues around Delaware County. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Philadelphia, Camden, Wilmington, Newark, West Chester, Gloucester City, Chester, West Deptford, Yeadon and Westtown. ...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, including the following area, New Castle, New Jersey, including the following areas, Atlantic, Camden, Coastal Atlantic, Coastal Ocean, Cumberland, Eastern Monmouth, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Southeastern Burlington and Western Monmouth, and southeast Pennsylvania, including the following areas, Delaware, Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Lower Bucks, Philadelphia, Upper Bucks, Western Chester and Western Montgomery. * WHEN...Through late tonight. * IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Showers and a thundertorms are expected through this evening. Rainfall rates of 1 to 3 inches per hour are possible in stronger storms.
