Western Westmoreland County in southwestern Pennsylvania... * Until 845 PM EDT. * At 538 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the area. Between 1 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Gastonville, Monessen, Donora, Monongahela, Charleroi, New Eagle, North Belle Vernon, Wickerham Manor-Fisher, Baidland, North Charleroi, Speers, Belle Vernon, Lynnwood-Pricedale, Finleyville, Long Branch, Dunlevy and Twilight. ...EXTREME HEAT WARNING IS CANCELLED... ...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT FRIDAY... * WHAT...Heat index values up to 100. * WHERE...Beaver, Fayette, Washington, Allegheny, Butler, and Westmoreland Counties. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A continuation of heat indices peaking near 100 each day with overnight lows above 70 will contribute to cumulative heat stress. Storms during the day may temporarily alleviate heat is some areas, but most areas will see some impacts. The most impactful period will be from noon to 6pm Thursday and Friday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside.
