West Central Jefferson PA County in west central Pennsylvania... * Until 245 PM EDT. * At 1145 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Summerville, Hawthorn and Corsica. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. At 1122 AM EDT, doppler radar indicated thunderstorms produced between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain with the potential for to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing as confirmed by local law enforcement. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Doppler Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Kittanning, Ford City, West Kittanning, Rural Valley, Worthington, Dayton, West Hills, Manorville, Ford Cliff, Applewold, Lenape Heights, Timblin, Templeton, Distant and Mahoning Creek Lake. State Route 356 between Headland Road and Hinchberger Road has reported water over the runway with additional reports of ongoing flooding northeast of Kittanning.
