...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Sneaker waves possible.

* WHERE...North and Central Coast of Oregon, and South
Washington Coast.

* WHEN...From Friday afternoon through Saturday evening.

* IMPACTS...Waves can run up significantly farther on a beach
than normal, including over rocks and jetties. Sneaker waves
can suddenly knock people off of their feet and quickly pull
them into the frigid ocean which may lead to serious injury or
drowning.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A Beach Hazards Statement is issued when
sneaker waves create potentially life-threatening conditions
in the surf zone. Caution should be used when in or near the
water. Always keep an eye on the waves, and be especially
watchful of children.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Rough bar conditions expected. Steep seas 8 to 12 ft at
15 to 17 seconds and east winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 20
kt expected.

* WHERE...In the Main Channel of the Columbia River Bar.

* WHEN...From 5 PM Friday to 2 PM PDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be hazardous to small craft,
especially when operating near to, or attempting to cross, the
Columbia River Bar.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Ebb current of 2.7 kt at 101 PM Wednesday.
Seas 4 ft. Ebb current of 4.2 kt at 115 AM Thursday. Seas 4 ft.
Ebb current of 3.34 kt at 201 PM Thursday. Seas 4 ft.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Small Craft Advisory means that wave conditions are expected to
be hazardous to small craft in the vicinity of the Columbia River
Bar. Mariners are advised to obtain the latest bar conditions
from the United States Coast Guard before attempting to cross the
bar.
