...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM PDT SATURDAY... * WHAT...Flooding caused by rain and snowmelt is expected. * WHERE...Portions of northeast Oregon, including the following counties, Umatilla, Union and Wallowa and southeast Washington, including the following counties, Columbia and Walla Walla. * WHEN...Until 300 PM PDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Overflowing poor drainage areas. River or stream flows are elevated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 238 PM PDT, rain and snowmelt is occurring, and will cause minor flooding. - At 2:40 PM, rain is falling over the Blue Mountains and the Blue Mountain Foothills and is expected to increase tonight. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Walla Walla, Pendleton, La Grande, Dayton, Meacham, College Place, Milton-Freewater, Waitsburg, Athena, Weston, Adams, Prescott, Helix, Starbuck, Bingham Springs, Tollgate, Spout Springs, Garrett, Gibbon and Dixie. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads. In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route. &&

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING TO LATE TOMORROW EVENING... * WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Umatilla River near Gibbon. * WHEN...From this evening to late tomorrow evening. * IMPACTS...At 7.0 feet, flooding of pastures and outbuildings close to the river from around the Bar M Ranch downstream through the Cayuse area. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:15 AM PDT Friday the stage was 6.4 feet. - Bankfull stage is 6.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 9.4 feet late tonight.
