A brief period of northerly gales, 30 to 35 kt with gusts to 45 kt, is possible south of Gold Beach this afternoon. Steep to very steep and hazardous seas 9 to 13 ft at 9 seconds. North winds ease Thursday and seas become swell dominated, but remain steep 9 to 11 at 15 to 17 seconds. * WHERE...All areas with the strongest winds and highest seas expected from Gold Beach southward. * WHEN...For the Hazardous Seas Warning, until 11 AM PDT Thursday. For the Small Craft Advisory, from 11 AM Thursday to 5 AM PDT Friday. * IMPACTS...Very steep and hazardous seas could capsize or damage vessels. ...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT FROM 5 PM PDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT... * WHAT...A moderate risk for sneaker waves is expected. * WHERE...The beaches of Douglas, Coos, and Curry counties. * WHEN...From 5 PM PDT this afternoon through late Thursday night. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and sweep them into the ocean.
