...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING TO FRIDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Salt Fork Arkansas River at Tonkawa.

* WHEN...From this evening to Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 19.0 feet, Flood depths ranging up to about 2 feet
move from eastern Grant County... across Kay County... to the
confluence with the Arkansas River below Ponca City. Farmland and
oilfields are flooded hours before the crest.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 12:30 PM CDT Wednesday the stage was 14.3 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 17.0 feet.
- Forecast...The Salt Fork Arkansas River is expected to rise
above flood stage late this evening to a crest of 19.4 feet
tomorrow morning. It will then fall below flood stage early
Friday morning.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Oklahoma, including the following
county, Kay.

* WHEN...Until 700 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain
closed due to flooding.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1101 AM CDT, Emergency management reported creeks and
streams continuing to overflow closing some roadways.
Flooding is already occurring.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Blackwell and Braman.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

MORNING...

* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Chikaskia River near Blackwell.

* WHEN...From this afternoon to early Friday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 32.0 feet, Several city blocks in northeast Blackwell
are affected. Some residences will be surrounded by depths
approaching 3 feet in streets. Highway 177 north of Blackwell...
and Hubbard Road southeast of Blackwell are closed. Blackwell
Avenue is overtopped. Rural lands are covered by floodwaters
ranging up to 4 feet in depth in extreme northeastern Grant and
Kay counties.




* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 7:30 AM CDT Wednesday the stage was 24.9 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 28.0 feet.
- Forecast...The Chikaskia River is expected to rise above
flood stage this afternoon to a crest of 32.0 feet just after
midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage
tomorrow evening.
- Flood stage is 29.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
32.0 feet on 04/30/1995.
