...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHERN SUMMIT COUNTY...

At 1042 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2.5 and 4 inches of rain
have fallen. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional
rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Radar.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Akron, Barberton, Green, New Franklin, Norton, Lakemore and
Portage Lakes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN PORTAGE...NORTH
CENTRAL STARK AND SOUTHEASTERN SUMMIT COUNTIES THROUGH 1100 PM EDT...

At 1017 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Akron, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Akron, Cuyahoga Falls, Kent, Barberton, Green, Tallmadge, Mogadore,
Hartville, Norton, Brimfield, Randolph, Munroe Falls, Lakemore,
Atwater, Edinburg, Uniontown, and Portage Lakes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.
