...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST TUESDAY... * WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 5 and 7 inches. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph. * WHERE...Geauga County. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes. Strong winds could cause tree damage. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The heaviest snowfall is expected this afternoon into the overnight hours. Snowfall rates may exceed 1 inch per hour at times. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The Ohio Department of Transportation and Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission strongly encourage motorists to heed all travel restrictions and delay unnecessary travel. If travel is absolutely necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden changes in visibility. Leave plenty of room between you and the motorist ahead of you, and allow extra time to reach your destination.
