(MANHATTAN) AND SOUTHWESTERN NASSAU COUNTIES THROUGH 1115 PM EDT...

At 1029 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from near Orange to Coney Island. Movement was
northeast at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 30 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects.

Strong thunderstorms will be near...
Newark and Jersey City around 1035 PM EDT.
Lyndhurst and Secaucus around 1040 PM EDT.
Kennedy Airport and Midtown Manhattan around 1045 PM EDT.
Jamaica and Woodmere around 1050 PM EDT.
Flushing and Mott Haven around 1055 PM EDT.
Bayside and Whitestone around 1100 PM EDT.
East Tremont and Garden City around 1105 PM EDT.

This includes the following event locations New York/New Jersey
Stadium, Brooklyn Bridge Park, Sports Illustrated Stadium, and USTA

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1145 PM EDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following
counties, Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Union and southeast New York,
including the following counties, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), Nassau,
New York (Manhattan), Queens and Richmond (Staten Island).

* WHEN...Until 1145 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is
imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 946 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. This will
cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches
of rain have fallen from earlier showers and thunderstorms.
- Additional rainfall amounts of around 0.5 to 1 inch are
expected over the area. This additional rain will result in
minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Newark, Jersey City, Jamaica, Elizabeth, Flatbush, Flushing,
Bayonne, Mott Haven, Hoboken, Plainfield, Bloomfield, Linden,
Orange, Coney Island, Summit, Lyndhurst, Millburn,
Rutherford, Woodmere and Secaucus.

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast New Jersey, including the following
areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern
Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and
Western Union and southeast New York, including the following
areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern
Queens, Richmond (Staten Island) and Southern Queens.

* WHEN...Through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and occasional thunderstorms with high amounts of
moisture are expected to move through the area this afternoon
and tonight. These showers and storms will have the potential
to produce 1 to 2 inches of rainfall per hour. These rates
could result in flash flooding mainly over urban and poor
drainage areas, but may also cause smaller streams and creeks
to flood. Most spots are likely to see 1 to 2 inches of rain
in total through tonight, but locally up to 3 inches cannot
be ruled out.
