...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations 2 to 4 feet. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will create blowing and drifting snow along with whiteout conditions at times. * WHERE...The Eastern Lake Ontario Region. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Whiteout conditions are expected to continue today and will make travel treacherous. Travel will remain very difficult with hazardous conditions from lake effect snow continuing to impact travel through the week. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow is expected oscillate back north to east of Lake Ontario tonight into Wednesday. Forecast snowfall amounts could be much higher where lake bands persist during this long duration event. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just a few miles away. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions. &&
