...BLOWING SNOW TONIGHT... Areas of blowing and drifting snow can be expected tonight, especially in the vicinity of farms and open fields. Visibility may quickly be reduced to a half mile or less at times, and drifting snow could result in snow covered roads in spots. Extra caution should be used if traveling tonight.

In New York, Northeast Suffolk and Southeast Suffolk Counties. * WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until 1 PM EST Sunday. For the Wind Advisory, until midnight EST tonight. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Seas 3 to 6 feet on Long Island Sound. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or greater may rapidly accumulate on vessels. * WHERE...Long Island Sound. * WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 6 AM EST Sunday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, until noon EST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area or conduct mitigation.
