At 1028 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Lancaster, Elma, Marilla, Bennington, Alden, Billington Heights, Elma Center and Cowlesville. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. At 946 PM EDT, while the heavy rain that produced between 2 and 3.5 inches of rain within the warned area earlier this evening has since ended. local law enforcement reported that some area roadways remain flooded. Flooding impacts will continue for a while longer, but no additional rainfall is expected. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.
