* Until 815 PM EST.

* At 729 PM EST, a dangerous snow squall was located along a line
extending from near Clayville to Georgetown to near Virgil, moving
east at 40 mph.

HAZARD...Flash freeze on roads. Intense bursts of heavy snow.
Gusty winds leading to blowing snow and visibility
rapidly falling to less than one-quarter mile. Wind gusts
greater than 35 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Travel will become difficult and potentially dangerous
within minutes.

Locations impacted include...
Norwich, Paris, Hamilton, Guilford, Brookfield, Virgil, Middlefield,
Hartwick, Cooperstown, and Edmeston.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Wet roadways will quickly freeze. Black ice will cause roads,
bridges, and overpasses to become slick and dangerous. Slow down and
be prepared for a sudden loss of traction.

Reduce speed and turn on headlights! During snow squalls, the
visibility may suddenly drop to near zero in whiteout conditions.

Consider avoiding or delaying travel until the snow squall passes
your location. If you must travel, use extra caution and allow extra
time. Rapid changes in visibility and slick road conditions may lead

as high as 50 mph will create blowing snow, which could reduce
visibility.

* WHERE...Chenango, Cortland, Otsego, and Southern Cayuga Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. Areas of blowing and drifting
snow could reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could
impact the morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring
down tree branches.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Higher snow totals up to 10 inches are
possible across the northern portions of these counties. Near
blizzard conditions are possible at times overnight into Tuesday
