...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN BROOME... SOUTHEASTERN CHEMUNG...SOUTHERN TIOGA...NORTHWESTERN SUSQUEHANNA AND NORTHERN BRADFORD COUNTIES THROUGH 800 PM EDT... At 720 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Castle Creek to near Union Center to Tioga Center to near Chemung to near Millerton. Movement was east at 25 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Chemung, Binghamton, Vestal, Johnson City, Endicott, Barton, Kirkwood, Sayre, Conklin, and Maine. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Heavy rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm.
